the finance desk you didn't hire
We take the month off your desk. Purchase and sales reconciliation, books closed, bank and ledgers tied out, TDS tracked, and a report you can actually read — delivered on the 8th, every month.
We are not a firm of chartered accountants. We prepare your books and returns; you or your CA reviews and files. How we work.
every month you lose credit you never see
Two hundred invoices arrive as a mess. Some are in your books, some in GSTR-2B, and the ones in neither are costing you money nobody will ever tell you about. This is one part of the month — the part where it shows up as cash. Press the button.
your credit depends on someone else's paperwork
you buy, and you pay the tax
The tax you pay on purchases is yours to claim back. On paper, simple.
your supplier has to report it
You can only claim once they have filed, under your GSTIN, at the right value.
some of them will not
They file late, key the wrong number, use the wrong registration, or stop filing altogether. Every month a handful of invoices simply do not arrive.
you find out in september
By the annual deadline the window has closed. The credit does not come back, and nobody tells you it left.
what is it costing you
Over a year that is ₹4,14,720 — against ₹96,000 for a year of Essential. See the fees.
Invoices × average value × GST rate gives the credit in play; the unmatched share is applied to it. An estimate for discussion, not your actual position. The real figure comes from your GSTR-2B, which we reconcile free for your first month.
the whole month, closed
Purchase reconciliation is the part you notice, because it is where the money leaks. It is not the whole job. Documents collected between the 1st and 3rd, work done from the 4th to the 7th, everything delivered on the 8th — same format, every month, without being chased.
purchases against GSTR-2B
Every invoice matched, every mismatch classified by cause, with the credit at risk stated in rupees against each line.
sales against GSTR-1 and 3B
Your outward supplies tied back to your books and your summary return, so the three agree before anything is filed. This is where notices come from.
supplier follow-up list
Who has not filed, what it is costing you, and a message ready to send them.
books, closed
Purchases, sales, expenses and journals recorded in Tally or Zoho, with a trial balance that actually balances.
bank and ledger reconciliation
Bank statements tied to books, and vendor and customer ledgers agreed, so disputes surface in the same month rather than at year end.
TDS tracked
Deductions identified as they arise, with what falls due on the 7th flagged before it is late.
profit and loss, and a one-page summary
What changed, what needs you, what is due next, and the credit recovered this month and this year to date.
management dashboard
Margin by product or category, profitability by sales channel, and cash conversion — updated monthly.
and it costs
Less than the person you would otherwise have to hire, and considerably less than the credit you are currently losing.
essential
Purchase and sales reconciliation, exception report, supplier follow-up list, returns prepared to filing-ready standard. For businesses whose CA already keeps the books.
standard most chosen
Everything above, plus books closed in Tally or Zoho, bank and ledger reconciliation, TDS tracking, profit and loss, and the one-page summary. The whole month, handled.
analytics
Everything above, plus a management dashboard covering margin by product, profitability by sales channel, and cash conversion. Built for brands selling across several channels.
the first month is free
Send one month of data. Get a full reconciliation back. Decide afterwards.
your rate is held for a year
Founding clients keep their price for twelve months, whatever we charge later.
thirty days' notice, either side
No annual contract, no exit fee, and your files leave with you.
we will tell you if it is not worth it
If the credit at risk is smaller than the fee, we say so and decline the work.
a pair of hands
behind your practice
Most practices we speak to are not short of clients. They are short of hands — and the partner ends up doing data entry at eleven at night because an article left and the next one has not learned the file yet.
Send us the reconciliation and preparation for your smaller clients. It comes back matched, in your format, before your filing window. You review and file. Your client relationship stays entirely yours, and we never contact them unless you ask us to.
flat fee per GSTIN, per month
A straightforward vendor engagement. No share of your fees, no commission, no revenue split.
your format, not ours
Files come back the way your team already works, so nothing has to be re-keyed.
capacity when you need it
Take it for September and March alone, or keep it running all year.
a trial batch, free
Give us two clients. Judge the work before any commitment.
who is
actually doing
the work
Me. That is the honest answer, and it is the point.
I am Swarna Suraj Mohanty, finishing a BBA in finance and marketing analytics, based in Bengaluru. Balance & Co. is not an agency with a sales team and an offshore back office. It is one person who does the reconciliation, writes the report, and picks up the phone when you call.
You should weigh that honestly. I have fewer years behind me than the practice down the road. What you get instead is someone who replies the same day, who has ten clients rather than three hundred, and who cannot afford to be careless with any of them.
I am not a chartered accountant and I do not pretend to be one. I prepare the work; your CA reviews and files it. If you do not have a CA, I will help you find one before I take your money.
If that sounds like the wrong trade for you, no hard feelings. If it sounds like exactly what you have been missing, send me one month of data and let the work decide.

how we work
we prepare, we do not file
We are not chartered accountants and Balance & Co. is not a CA firm. We do not audit, certify, issue any document carrying a UDIN, or file on your behalf. Under Section 116 of the CGST Act we cannot represent you before the tax authorities either — if a notice arrives, it goes to your CA. We prepare everything to filing-ready standard; you or your chartered accountant reviews and submits. If anyone introduces us as your CA, we will correct them.
signed before we start
An engagement letter and a non-disclosure agreement, sent together, before any work begins. You will know the scope, the fee, and the notice period in writing on day one.
we never hold your portal credentials
We do not ask for, store, or use your GST or income tax portal passwords. You keep them. Responsibility for what is filed under your GSTIN stays with you in law, whoever prepares the working — so we hand you the file and you or your CA submits it. Nothing is ever filed from our side without your CA in the loop.
your data is handled properly
Your files live in a folder only you and we can access, and documents move through that folder rather than personal messaging. We hold your data only for the work you have engaged us for, and we will return or delete it on request. As a data fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, our handling policy is sent to you in writing before we start.
no lock-in
Everything is kept in your own storage, in standard formats, documented so any accountant could take over within an hour. Thirty days' notice, either side, for any reason. We would rather you stayed because the work is good.
replies within two hours
On working days. If a deadline is at risk you hear it from us at least 48 hours early, not on the due date.
one person, named
Balance & Co. is run by Swarna Suraj Mohanty, from Bengaluru, working with clients across India. You will deal with the same person every month — the one who does the work. Reach us at hello@balanceandco.in.
questions
you might
have
are you chartered accountants?
No, and we will never say we are. Balance & Co. is a finance-operations practice. We do not audit, certify, file returns on your behalf, or represent you before the tax authorities. We prepare everything to filing-ready standard and your CA reviews and files it.
does this replace my CA?
No. Most of our clients keep theirs. We do the monthly grind — reconciliation, books, ledgers, TDS tracking — so your CA spends their time on the tax planning and filing you are actually paying them for. If anything, they will like you more for it.
what do you need from me each month?
Purchase and sales invoices, bank statements, and access to download your GSTR-2B. One complete request between the 1st and the 3rd, sent to a shared folder. Not five follow-ups over three weeks.
do you need my GST portal password?
No. We never ask for, store, or use your portal credentials. You keep them. Where a download needs an OTP, we do it on a short call with you present.
I already use ClearTax or Zoho. why do I need you?
Those are tools, not people. Someone still has to operate them, chase the missing bills, work out why a supplier's invoice never appeared, and tell you what it means. That someone is currently you.
I only have one GSTIN. is it worth it?
Possibly not, if your purchase volume is low. Use the estimator above — if the credit at risk is smaller than the fee, we will tell you so rather than take the engagement. We would rather say no than have you cancel in month three.
is the first month really free?
Yes. Send one month of purchase data and your GSTR-2B and you get a full reconciliation and exception report back, at no cost, with no commitment. It is the fastest way to find out whether we are any good.
what if I want to leave?
Thirty days' notice, either side, for any reason. Everything lives in your own storage in standard formats, documented so any accountant can pick it up within an hour. We do not build lock-in.
is this really cheaper than hiring someone?
For the monthly close, yes — a junior accountant in Bengaluru costs ₹22,000–36,000 a month before PF, ESI and training. But be fair to the comparison: a full-time hire sits in your office, answers instantly, and does work we do not, like chasing customers or handling petty cash. If you need that, hire. If what you actually need is the month closed properly and on time, we are a fraction of the cost.
when do you open?
We are opening to the first ten clients in December 2026. Waitlist members are contacted first, keep their rate for twelve months, and get the free tools the day they go live.
ten clients, then we close
Ten is not a marketing number. It is how many books one person can look after properly while doing the work themselves. Practices count as one place, however many GSTINs they send. When the ten are taken, the list stays shut until we can add capacity.
Join and you get your first month reconciled free, your rate held for a year, and the free tools the day they go live.
you join, we reply
Within two working days, from a real person. No automated sequence.
we reconcile one month, free
Send purchase data and your GSTR-2B. You get the full report back, no commitment.
you decide
If the numbers justify it, we start. If they do not, we will say so ourselves.
Before you join: Balance & Co. is not a firm of chartered accountants and does not audit, certify, file returns, or represent clients before the tax authorities. We prepare; your CA reviews and files.
you're on the list
We will be in touch before we open. To jump the queue, reply to the confirmation email with one month of purchase data and your GSTR-2B, and we will reconcile it free right now.
